A blood pressure device that’s been on every portable blood pressure test and every lab-approved device in the United States for years is now making its way to the doctor’s office, too.
Doctors will be able to ask the FDA to approve new blood pressure devices in the coming weeks, the agency said Thursday.
The new devices will be made by the Boston Scientific Company.
The FDA will make sure that all manufacturers meet the standards of the American Heart Association and other major medical groups, the FDA said in a statement.
Blood pressure devices are being used to help detect and treat cardiovascular disease, high blood pressure and other conditions.
They are used to measure the level of pressure in the blood vessels of patients and can help determine when to start the medications a patient needs to keep them from having a heart attack.
